Accurate and reliable XRF analysis is a crucial part of production processes across many different industries across the world. From making sure that solder alloys conform to quality control standards to valuing gold jewellery, choosing the right XRF analyzer will have wide-ranging effects not just on your production processes but on your profitability.
The Hitachi High-Tech X-Strata920 is a high-tech solution to a wide variety of coating thickness and materials analysis challenges. By combining a large-area proportional detector and a micro-focus X-ray tube, the X-Strata920 provides the best accuracy in its class.
But accuracy is just one part of the equation when it comes to choosing the right instruments for your operations. Here are the other top reasons to choose the X-Strata920.
Any device that is designed to raise quality standards, and deliver a clear business advantage, needs to be easy to use. Bogging down resources in complex user training is not a useful outcome for anyone. The X-Strata920 uses an expanded version of the SmartLink platform, which is designed to simplify routine analysis and allow minimally trained operators to achieve the same results as expert technical staff. Advanced users can also benefit from the combination of intuitive operation and powerful analytical features that give both their capabilities and productivity a boost.
From bulk analysis to 3D mapping and generating statistics and reports, SmartLink takes the challenge out of measuring new and old applications.
Simplicity and flexibility mean that the X-Strata920 can work in a wide range of analysis situations with minimal user training required. The calibration setup is a key part of this.
The X-Strata920 has been optimized for hundreds of applications including PCB surface, connector coatings, corrosion resistance, decorative finishes, wear resistance, high-temperature resistance and more.
When no calibration standards are available, fundamental parameters methods provide simple and reliable quantitative results. Methods can be created in minutes.
The X-Strata920 is designed to fit parts of all shapes and sizes, from the very small to the long and skinny. A mini-well chamber also means that the taller parts can be measured in a fast and non-destructive way.
The standard base features a slotted chamber that allows the measurement of a wide range of samples from small components to large, flat printed circuit boards (even those that exceed the width of the instrument). The mini-well base takes care of taller samples, and a programmable base can provide automatic measurements. By using the programmable base, you can make sure you are achieving a high sample throughput even when the operation is unattended.
This range of options means that users can ensure target specifications are met while costs are kept down and time-consuming over-plating and re-work. All the operator has to worry about is loading and positioning the samples correctly. Once the sample is in place, the results are displayed in seconds and the operator is free to move on to their next task.
Adding this choice of configurations to the optimized calibrations created with traceable standards means that you can have confidence in results produced by the X-Strata920.
Choice of detectors
The importance of future-proofing equipment cannot be overstated. Having a device that can evolve and adapt with your operations will save you a significant amount of resources over the long term. The X-Strata920 has a choice of two detectors, a proportional counter and a more-advanced Silicon Drift Detector (SDD).
The proportional counter is suited for operations that need to accurately and reliably identify single elements. For those that need to identify multiple elements, or who have the possibility that the coatings they use may change in the future, the SDD allows you to better future-proof your operations. By utilising lower noise, the SDD is capable of detecting thinner coating and giving a cleaner view of the gold peak.
There is no need to be proficient in English to make use of the X-Strata920, as the software is available in 11 languages. We have customers all over the world, who are themselves often part of global supply chains, so making our solutions easy to use is an important part of our business.
Our in-house experts across five applications centres have developed over 1000 coatings applications. As well as having a team of experienced manufacturing constantly working with our customers to improve our products, our global network of service hubs offers a full range of technical support.
Whether you need a fast response to your problem or in-depth online diagnostics, training or preventive maintenance, our team can ensure that your analyzers continue to produce the right results for years.
Hitachi has been a leader in the XRF coatings industry for 40 years, and our range includes models like the SFT series, CMI series, X-Strata series, Eco series, MAXXI series and FT series. Our success has come from knowing that for our clients, accuracy and reliability must go hand in hand with the latest developments in technology. The X-Strata920 takes this insight, with its range of configurations and calibrations, and uses it to provide manufacturers to quickly and simply guarantee the quality of their productions.
