Photochemical Reaction Calorimeter Option PDC-8 / PDC-8LED

The PDC-8 / PDC-8LED accessories for the NEXTA DSC make it easy to optimize your UV curing process.

Measure the heat generated by the exothermic UV reaction and track the curing time under different wavelengths and irradiation levels. After curing, a standard DSC scan reveals changes in material properties. With a high-output UV light source and wavelength-selective filters, the UV curing process can be fine-tuned with precision.

Features

• Photochemical Reaction Calorimeter (PDC) evaluates the heat of curing reactions and optimal curing conditions of UV-cured resins (such as adhesives) using a differential scanning calorimeter.
• The optical fiber illuminates an equal amount of ultraviolet-visible light directly above both the sample and the reference, allowing for accurate detection of the curing reaction heat in the sample.
• There are two types of light sources available: Hg-Xe lamps and LEDs, which can be selected based on the material development and manufacturing process requirements. The wavelength selection can be easily achieved by choosing the appropriate filter for the Hg-Xe lamp or the LED head for the LED type, allowing evaluation of the wavelength and intensity dependence in the UV curing reaction.

• UV irradiation can be turned on and off manually or automatically. The irradiation time can be set in increments of 0.1 seconds according to the set temperature program.
• The PDC-8 and PDC-8LED both feature an attachment that can be easily removed and repositioned with reproducible accuracy, allowing the instrument to function as a standard DSC when needed.
